Today marks an exciting milestone in our company's journey: Mock Loki is officially becoming Stage.
Why the Change?
When we started this company, "Mock Loki" felt clever—a playful nod to the Norse god of mischief and the mocking libraries we were replacing. But as we grew, we realized the name was creating confusion:
- It undersold what we do: We're not just about mocking. We're about giving developers complete control over their dependency behavior in real environments.
- Enterprise customers were hesitant: The whimsical name didn't convey the enterprise-grade reliability and security we provide.
- It was hard to remember: How many times did people ask, "Was it Mock Loki or Loki Mock?"
Why "Stage"?
The name Stage captures exactly what our platform does: it lets you stage any scenario you need to test. Think of it like a theater stage where you control every element of the scene.
Stage also works beautifully as a verb. You don't mock APIs—you stage them. You stage error responses. You stage edge cases. You stage production scenarios.
And importantly, it's: - Memorable: One word, easy to spell, easy to say - Professional: Conveys reliability and control - Descriptive: Immediately hints at what we do

A Note of Thanks
This rebrand is only possible because of the incredible community we've built. To our customers who believed in us when we were just "that mocking tool with the weird name"—thank you. Your feedback, patience, and enthusiasm have shaped everything we've built.
We're more excited than ever about the future. Stage is more than a name change—it's a signal of our ambition to become the platform engineering teams rely on to ship with confidence.
Here's to the next chapter.
