Staff Engineer, Platform
Remote (US)$220K - $300K + Equity
About this Role
We're looking for a Staff Engineer to lead the architecture and development of our distributed gateway system. This is a high-impact role where you'll define the technical vision for our core platform and mentor a growing engineering team.
You'll tackle complex challenges in distributed systems, real-time data processing, and multi-tenant architecture. Your decisions will directly impact our ability to scale to millions of developers.
What You'll Do
- Define and drive the technical architecture for our platform
- Lead the design of critical systems handling billions of requests
- Establish engineering standards and best practices
- Mentor and grow engineers across the organization
- Partner with leadership on technical strategy and roadmap
- Drive cross-functional initiatives and technical decision-making
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of software engineering experience
- 3+ years in a senior or staff-level role
- Proven track record building and scaling distributed systems
- Experience leading technical initiatives across teams
- Strong system design and architecture skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Nice to Have
- Experience at infrastructure or developer tools companies
- Background in API gateways, proxies, or networking
- Experience scaling systems to millions of users
- Open source maintainer experience
